History
Portuguese Water originates from Portugal and was bred originally as a water dog and fishing aid. It was able to drive fish into nets. It’s origins can be dated back to the Middle Ages. The Portuguese Water is also known by the other name of Cao de Agua. This dog is classified as one of the Working Dog Group.The Portuguese Water was first Registered by the AKC (American Kennel Club) in 1893.

• Character and Temperament
  Dogs in the Working group, which include the Portuguese Water, were developed to perform a wide variety of tasks, such as herding, droving, pulling, hauling, herding, hunting, rescuing and guarding.
