History
American Eskimo originates from the United States and was bred originally as farm dogs and performers. It’s origins can be dated back to the 1900’s. The American Eskimo is also known by the other names of American Spitz and Eskies. This dog is classified as one of the Non-Sporting Dog Group. The American Eskimo was first Registered by the AKC (American Kennel Club) in 1995.
Dogs in the Non-Sporting Group are a diverse group which do not fit the specified criteria of the other breed groups. In addition, the Non-Sporting Group may no longer perform the tasks they were originally bred for. These dogs vary in every conceivable way from size, temperament, features and coats.
