History
Alaskan Klee Kai originates from Alaska where it was bred by the Spurlin family as a companion-sized version of the Alaskan Husky. The Alaskan Klee Kai is not currently Registered by the AKC (American Kennel Club) and is therefore in the category of dogs termed Unrecognised & Rare Breeds.
This dog is classified as one of the Toy Dog Group. Dogs in the Toy Group, which include the Alaskan Klee Kai, were initially developed to ease the lifestyle and provide pleasure to rich people. These dogs were initially owned by the wealthy and were viewed by others as status symbols - a luxury item with little apparent purpose.
